The Electric Vehicles Initiative (EVI) and the International Energy Agency (IEA) have launched the Global EV Outlook representing two years of data gathering and analysis of electric vehicle stock/sales and charging station deployment.

Mahindra and Mahindra, on Monday, launched its all-electric four-seater passenger car, the e2o, with price starting at Rs.5.96 lakh.

The car is developed by Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles (formerly Reva Electric Car Company), and will replace its predecessor Reva, India’s first electric car. “The launch of the Mahindra e2o marks an important milestone for the Mahindra Group…this is not just about selling a car, it is about telling people to change their lifestyle. We are working at creating an ecosystem that includes mobility solutions along with other environment-friendly innovations,” Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra told reporters here.

An innovative solar-powered advertising vehicle developed by an entrepreneur, was launched by Prakasam District Collector G.S.R.K.R. Vijaykumar here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said ''solar energy is the energy of the future''. He stressed the need for developing easy-to-use appliances by tapping the renewable energy to meet the ever-growing power requirements.

Mehsana Resident Comes Up With Solar Rickshaw

Palanpur: As his small toy-like solarpowered tricycle passes through the streets and bazaars of Mehsana with his three children seated snugly behind him under a canopy, loud cheers are heard from passersby. Everyone seems to love the novel contraption moving smoothly on the roads. “Even the traffic policemen wave at us and at times give us money,” said Shamsuddin Ansari, the owner of this new solar rickshaw. He is a native of Amhera village in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh now settled in Mehsana.

JAIPUR: The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) citizen's survey findings have offered the authorities real-time data to take some urgent steps to check rising pollution levels and encourage walking and cycling as feasible options for residents to travel small distances.

The report stated that 40% residents prefer to walk or cycle to nearby destinations in the city. This is an indication enough for the state to realize that given an option of walker-friendly roads, many would prefer to walk over using private cars to travel.

Plans to launch Reva NXR with lithium ion battery by Diwali

Two months ahead of the launch of a much-awaited next-gen electric car, Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Pvt Ltd is finalising an aggressive product road map to expand its business in India and foreign markets. The Mahindra Group company, which is likely to launch its new electric car, the four-seater Reva NXR, during Diwali, has lined up five new models, including three from Mahindra platforms and two from Reva, for launch till 2016. The new car is packed with a host of world-first technology features.

To boost the sagging sales of electric vehicles, the government on Wednesday approved the extension of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE)’s subsidy scheme to incentivise sales of electric cars and two-wheelers in the country.

“Sales of electric vehicles have declined as much as 65 per cent since the discontinuation of the MNRE scheme in March. Today, it was decided this scheme would be extended till proposals for subsidies under the National Mission for Electric Mobility (NMEM) are formulated,” said Naveen Munjal, president, Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles.
