Don't plant commercial trees: Tribals

Bamboo flowering kicking rat reproduction into ‘overdrive’

AIZAWL, July 26: The relationship between plagues of rats and bamboo flowering was the focus of a workshop held in Mizoram. At the workshop, Dr F Lalnunmawia, an assistant professor at Mizoram University’s Department of Forestry, said that rodent outbreaks similar to the one that occurred in Bago and Daik U are recorded at roughly 48-year intervals in Mizoram: 1815, 1863, 1911 and 1958.

Forest department plans herbal plantations in Cachar

SILCHAR, May 4: The Forest Department of Cachar has decided to plant herbal plants on 400 hectares in the Dholai area of the district for which the first installment of Rs. 60 lakh has been sanctioned by the state government.
