The Water Supply and Drainage Ministry has taken moves to supply drinking water, toilets and other essential sanitation facilities to schools, Ministry Secretary Asoka Pieris said.
He said 800 schools have been found without these essential facilities and only 2,000 schools have drinking water facilities.

The Supreme Court today gave the green signal for a Rs 503-crore drinking water project meant for 930 villages and towns in Karauli and Sawai Madhopur districts of Rajasthan.

The project, which will be implemented by the Public Health and Engineering department in about a year, involves laying of a 160-km pipeline to draw water from the Chambal river.

BANGALORE: A mega drinking water project will be implemented by the Karnataka government to mitigate the problem of drinking water in all 59,630 urban and rural habitations of the 176 taluks of the State. The project cost is projected at Rs. 53,877 crore to be spread over the next five years.

Agartala, Oct 15: The Central Government has sanctioned Rs 665 Crore for water project in Agartala under Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNURM) to ensure supply of safe drinking water.

No wonder, there has been a tendency to take for granted the availability of water and show scant responsibility to the understanding of the ecological processes that make it available to us.
