SC notice to oil ministry, IGL on PNGRB petition

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday sought reply from Indraprastha Gas Ltd, the petroleum ministry and others on a PNGRB plea seeking permission to issue licences for retailing CNG and piped gas in view of the government notifying regulations that give powers to it.

Automotive research body develops greener fuel engine for light vehicles
Pune The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has developed an HCNG (Hydrogen blended CNG ) fuel engine complying with EURO V standards for light commercial vehicles. HCNG is greener than CNG and perceived as the ultimate alternative for fossil fuels. ARAI claims to be the first Indian institute to develop HCNG fuel engine.

Rlys looks at bio-fuel to cut costs
After CNG, the Indian Railways now wants to tap bio-diesel potential to cut down on its operational cost. The Ministry has decided to set up an integrated bio-diesel plant at Chennai. The plant will have a production capacity of 30 tonnes per day.

Eco panel to AP: Shift to CNG for public transport
Hyderabad, June 30: The Supreme Court-appointed Environment Pollution (Prevention and Cure) Authority has threatened to recommend criminal action against commercial establishments that flout parking norms. It has also asked the government to gradually switch over to CNG for public transportation in the state capital.

Urban immobility threatens
The last horse-drawn tonga went off Delhi’s streets a few weeks ago. This was followed by the Maruti 800, India’s first indigenous small car, only to be replaced by the Nano which Ratan Tata determined to develop after seeing a Delhi family of four perilously perched on a two-wheeler.
