500 fresh applications seek compensation to endosulfan victims
MLA K Vasanth Bangera said a total of 500 fresh applications have been received seeking compensation for the reported effects of endosulfan.
Talking to reporters after receiving applications from the members of the public at Kokkada near here on Sunday, he said deserving people can still apply for the compensation.

Sowing the seeds of organic farming
When he would come home from his modest half-acre farm after sundown, Ramesh Pradhan wouldn’t go near his children and wife until he had bathed and changed his clothes. As a vegetable farmer in Nayagarh district’s Kiriyalanji village under Nuagaon block, Pradhan, 32, would reek of pesticides and fertilisers after a day of toil at his field, about 200 metres away from his home.

Over 100 birds die in tea estate
Dibrugarh, Jan. 10: Over a hundred birds died of suspected pesticide poisoning in a tea estate at Moran in Dibrugarh today.
Forest officials said samples of the dead birds would be sent to the forensic laboratory for tests to ascertain the cause.
