KANPUR: Various areas of Ashok Nagar under Kalyanpur block are grappling with insanitary conditions for the past few months as Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) has turned a blind eye towards the woes of this locality. The lanes here are flooded with sewage water and posing a serious health hazard.

A visit to these places presents a picture of utter neglect as majority of localities in Ashok Nagar are waterlogged even though there hasn't been any rainfall recently. Apart from sewage water, piles of garbage can be seen strewn around in these localities. The stagnant drains have become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Shift All Public Transport Vehicles To CNG, Says HC

Lucknow: The high court on Friday asked the central and state governments to consider converting all public transport vehicles in Lucknow, Kanpur and Agra into CNG-operated ones to control the ever-increasing levels of air pollution. The state capital is rated fifth in terms of pollution level as per a WHO report. The court has given four weeks’ time to the authorities to give a detailed report on the feasible supply of CNG in Lucknow.
