The right kind of picture may well speak a thousand words and it is this sort of visual impact that is sought by the documentarians. The six-minute short film attempts to show the deplorable condition of 10 neglected lakes such as the Arakere Lake, Kaikondrahalli Lake, Halasuru Lake, Puttenahalli Lake, Dorekere Lake, Varthur Lake, Rajarajeshwari Nagar Lake, Somasandra Palya Lake, Uttarahalli Lake and Agara Lake.

Madhusudhanan, who had been taking up the cause for over a decade now, said conservation efforts should be supported by genuine, eco-friendly solutions. The lake was listed as a Ramsar site in 2002. Livelihood activities and biodiversity protection was also important. Serious concerns were raised only when the water level dropped alarmingly.

Union Minister of State for Labour Kodikunnil Suresh has said the lack of coordination between various departments of the State government had led to the delay in taking up projects to protect the Sasthamcotta Lake.

The lack of coordination among the departments was the main problem. Mr. Suresh said there was a delay in setting up a steering committee in Kerala and in submitting the report to the Ministry.
