Bhopal, Dec 19: Funds to the tune of Rs four crore 62 lakh will be made available under Conservation-cum-Development Scheme for providing drinking water facility in the areas predominant by Saharia and Baiga primitive tribes during the year 2008-09.

Indore, Dec 17: In an attempt to curb vehicular pollution in Indore, the RTO here has mooted an idea to run CNG auto rickshaws in the city by replacing old, decrepit autos which are 10 years old. Informing this, an official in the RTO, said that as per the plan, the RTO will cancel licenses of all those auto rickshaws which are more than 10 years old.

Bhopal, Dec 17: 4,624 roads spanning 21,338 kilometres length have been constructed so far in Madhya Pradesh under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. The most striking aspect of construction of these roads is that they have ushered in a new era in eight thousand 50 villages of the state by connecting them with main roads. These roads have been constructed at a cost of Rs 5437 crore.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that more new measures will be taken up for redressing farmers' problems. Addressing a function held to felicitate himj at the office of Bhartiya Kisan Sangh at Shivaji Nagar here on Sunday, Chouhan said that the Kisan Panchayat will be held every year.

MUMBAI: Suicides by farmers of Maharashtra crossed the 4,000-mark in 2007, for the third time in four years, according to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

As many as 4,238 farmers of the State took their lives that year, the latest for which data are available, accounting for a fourth of 16,632 farmer suicides in the country.
