Larsen & Toubro, the engineering and construction giant, on Monday said it has bagged Rs 2,460-crore order from Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for constructing the monorail project in the city. The company in association with Malaysia-based Scomi Engineering would build the 20-km monorail in 30 months.

Mumbai, November 6 The Urban Development department is deliberating on the idea to link the Mumbai and Navi Mumbai airports via a monorail along the proposed Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL).

In a bid to ensure better connectivity, with the proposed international airport at Navi Mumbai and the growth centers in Raigad district, the state government is planning a monorail route on the Mumbai Trans Harbor Link (MTHL).

The first monorail corridor in the country will finally see the light of day, but at a cost higher than what was expected. The executive committee of the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) gave the green signal to the of 19.5km corridor from Jacob Circle to Chembur.
