Integrated Land & Eco System Management to be implemented in the state
The Integrated Land and Eco System Management to Combat Land Degradation and Deforestation is being launched in Madhya Pradesh from August 10. On this occasion, a workshop will be organised at the Academy of Administration, Bhopal. Forest Minister Shri Sartaj Singh will be the chief guest at the workshop, which will begin at 9.30 am.

Medicinal herbs looted from C’magalur hills?
Environmental organisations have said that medicinal herbs are being openly looted from Mullaiahnagiri, Bababudangiri, Kemmangundi and Chandrdrona hill range.
A press release from environmental activist G Veeresh said that the plants from these hill have been in great demand from time immemorial and hence district administration and forest department should take steps to conserve the same.

New Delhi: India has foiled a major Chinese bio-piracy bid to patent the use of medicinal plants ‘pudina’ (mint) and ‘kalamegha’ (andrographis) for the treatment of H5N1 avian influenza or bird flu.

DG Vaishnav to help colleges go green
IN a bid to revive ancient medicinal and healing techniques and to create a healthy environment, DG Vaishnav College has launched a ‘arbhori’ horticultural project called ‘Harivnam’, which means ‘project green’, on its campus in the city. It plans to help other colleges replicate the project on their campuses.
