A fire that broke out in a forest in northern region of Panna district, about 15km from the tiger reserve, on Thursday is threatening the forest cover and wildlife.

BHOPAL: The Public Health Engineering Department has completed 621 drinking water schemes sanctioned under Bundelkhand package so far at a cost of Rs 21.29 crore.

Total 1287 drinking water schemes costing about Rs 100 crore were sanctioned to 6 districts under Bundelkhand package, including Sagar, Chhatarpur, Panna, Tikamgarh, Damoh and Datia. Public Health Engineering Minister GaurishankarBisen has directed departmental officers to complete under-construction schemes under the package at the earliest.

Efforts are being made to increase storage capacity in the State. In the days to come, 27 godowns will be built in six districts of Bundelkhand region.

“Illegal mining has become a huge problem in Madhya Pradesh as the stakes are too high and those involved get huge monetary returns by indulging in this activity.” This was pointed out by state chief secretary Avani Vaish during an informal interaction with a group of media-persons at the State Academy of Administration here on Sunday afternoon.
