Seven lakh to get rice at Re.1 under new scheme
TIRUCHI: About seven lakh ration card holders in the district would benefit from the supply of rice at Re.1 a kg through the public distribution system, said Transport Minister K.N. Nehru. Inaugurating the supply of the subsidised rice at a ration shop at Woraiyur here on Tuesday, Mr. Nehru said that about 12,000 tonnes of rice, worth Rs.28 crore in the open market, would be supplied to the cardholders through 1,016 PDS shops in the district every month.
