River of sorrow

Several families have been affected by the release of water from the Indian side into the Jogbuda river in Nepal. In this regard, local residents of Dodhara submitted a memorandum to the prime minister of Nepal and called for immediate relief measures. According to estimates, nearly 50 ha of land with standing crops, homes and cattle sheds are damaged each year after the excess water is released from the Sharada Sagar reservoir and the Lohiya head power house. India is said to have failed to initiate any process to solve the problem despite repeated pleas from Nepal.
