Road plan rolled
a rs 1,500-crore link road plan for India's capital city has been drawn up by the Delhi government. The plan entails the building of an express ighway from Narela to Faridabad that will link the four national high-ways (nh) connecting Delhi. The project, which will be built on the build-operate-lease-transfer system chalked out between the Delhi government and private builders, is already underway.
The express highway is being built with the aim of reducing the pressure on Delhi's roads and curtailing the pollution and congestion arising because of the rapid development of the National Capital Region and satellite townships. The link road is expected to divert the traffic effectively between satellite towns and Delhi and between the towns themselves.
Four passenger terminals have been proposed to be built at Narela, Dwarka, Tughlakabad and Anand Vihar. The setting up of four integrated freight complexes at the entry points of the nhs linking the capital at Madanpur Khadar, Bhartal, Gazipur and Holambi Kalan have also been proposed.
