Quacks and Medics

The Delhi high court has allowed two associations of medical practitioners who do not follow allopathy to become party to a petition seeking a ban on quacks in the capital. The two associations mainly represent doctors practising Ayurved, Unani, and other traditional Indian systems of medicine. The associations claimed that the Delhi government had included names of some Ayurvedic doctors holding degrees from recognised institutions in its list of 430 quacks. While allowing impleadment by the two associations, a division bench of the court directed the Union government, the government of Delhi and the Indian Medical Association to file replies within one month.
