Bangladesh national road map for adaptation to climate change impacts on food security

Impacts of climate change are visible in Bangladesh in the form of temperature extremes, erratic rainfall, and increased number of floods, cyclones, droughts, and increasing prevalence of rough weather in the Bay. These phenomena is adversely affecting the country‘s food security through:- reduction of crop productivity (quantity/quality); changes of water use (irrigation); land use; migration; increased frequency/intensity of flooding, water logging, soil erosion and salinity and arsenic contamination; and uncertainties in the path of development. This Roadmap is embarked upon current policies and strategies of the country in relation to food security and climate change. Bangladesh roadmap for addressing climate change impacts on food security incorporates eight broad strategic actions relating to the three areas of food security: availability (AV), access (AC) and utilization (U).
