The Standing Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (2012-13) present this Twenty Seventh Report (15th Lok Sabha) on 'The National Food Security Bill, 2011' relating to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (Department of Food and Public Distribution). The National Food Security Bill, 2011 as introduced in Lok Sabha on 22nd December, 2011 was referred by the Hon'ble Speaker, Lok Sabha under Rule 331 (E) (1) (b) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha on 5th January, 2012 to the Standing Committee for examination and report. Considering the wide ramifications of the Bill, the Committee at their sitting held on 23rd January, 2012, inter alia, decided to invite views/suggestions of the general public and various stakeholders and also to take evidence of selected Central Ministries/Organizations/Individuals etc. besides the nodal Ministry i.e. the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (Department of Food and Public Distribution) on the various provisions of the Bill.
