Transportation status report by citizens of Pune, 2012-13
Citizens’ Transportation Status Report 2013 reveals need to increase share of public and non-motorized transport. In a first of its kind, city-based NGOs Parisar and Save Pune Traffic Movement (SPTM) have released a Citizens’ Transportation Status Report (TSR) on the lines of the Environment Status Report (ESR) that is published every year by the Pune Municipal Corporation. The TSR is intended as a tool to help officials decide what sort of projects are needed as well as what sort of projects should be avoided in order to improve the city's transportation and make it more sustainable and safe while providing mobility to everyone. The Citizens’ TSR considers 9 important parameters that indicate the health of the transportation system in the city and calculates a value for each parameter based on either official data or data that was gathered by conducting surveys.
