New online water quality monitoring system in Hyderabad
A new online water quality monitoring system to keep a daily tab on water quality in regions falling under Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (ghmc) will be up and running by the end of July.
The local body in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad will conduct daily, weekly and fortnightly checks of quality of water through the online monitoring system. It's part of ghmc's recent water monitoring endeavour. The municipality also plans to conduct training programmes for district health educators.
"Now the water quality surveillance would be on a daily basis. The municipalities will have to solve water related problems within 24 hours of receiving a complaint' says one of the officers of the municipality.
Experts say its significant that the online onitoring system would get implemented as soon as the monsoon sets in.
"During monsoons, chances of viral outbreaks are always high and online monitoring would go a long way in maintaining the quality of water supply,' the municipal officer said.
