Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding the issue of pollution being caused as a result of non compliance of the Plastic Waste (Management & Handling) Rules, 2011, 15/10/2014
Order of the National Green Tribunal (Central Zonal Bench, Bhopal) in the matter of Sandeep Lahariya Vs. State of M.P. & Ors. dated 15/10/2014 regarding the issue of pollution being caused as a result of non compliance of the Plastic Waste (Management & Handling) Rules, 2011 in general and to prohibit manufacture, sale, distribution, storage and use of plastic carry bags as well as their proper disposal. The Tribunal has noted that there is non compliance of the Plastic Waste (Management & Handling) Rules, 2011 in the states of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh and has thus ordered the manufacture of plastic carry bags of the prohibited category would not be permitted and all States shall take necessary steps for implementation of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) as provided under Rule 6 of the Rules, 2011.
