Statistical Yearbook for Latin America and the Caribbean 2014

Statistical Yearbook for Latin America and the Caribbean 2014 The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) has released the Statistical Yearbook for Latin America and the Caribbean 2014. The annual Yearbook provides a statistical overview of the social, economic and environmental development processes in the region, to support comparative analysis of Latin American and Caribbean countries using statistical data. The 2014 Yearbook is organized in four chapters. The first chapter addresses demographic and social topics, including population, employment, gender, education, health, poverty and income distribution indicators. The second chapter provides economic statistics, such as data on national accounts, balance of payments, price indexes and international trade. The third chapter describes environmental-related statistics regarding, inter alia, land cover, ecosystems, biodiversity, energy, water, biological resources, emissions, extreme events and natural disasters, regulation and environmental management. The final chapter focuses on the methodological aspects of the statistics presented and references to the data sources, and notes that most of the information comes directly from national statistic offices, central banks, international organizations and other official institutions.
