Mobile film festival unveils its official selection

Paris, November 3, 2015 – The Mobile Film Festival announced today its official selection consisting of 75 one-minute films from 27 countries all with thought-provoking messages about climate change. The festival received an overwhelming 765 film submissions from 70 countries all shot on mobile devices.

 

Using a variety of different genres of filmmaking including comedy, horror, drama, sci-fi and more, participating filmmakers used their mobile devices to create visual piecesdepicting the environmental degradation of the earth.

 

The festival will be in partnership with the UN and the COP21 in Paris, France and in the month leading up to the conference people from around the world are invited to vote and discover original, creative, provocative and hard-hitting films all thematically tied to climate change. Voters will have a chance to win special prizes including iPads, iPhones, Amazon vouchers and more.

 

All 75 films are available to be screened on the Mobile Film Festival site and can be viewed and voted on until 11:59 PM GMT on November 30. All films have been subtitled in English and potentially in other languages through crowd sourcing.

Countries represented in the festival include: Bangladesh, Brazil, Columbia, Comoros, China, Ecuador, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Iran, Indonesia, Italy,Kenya, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico,Portugal, Russia, Senegal,South Korea, , Serbia, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom, USA,

 

On Monday, December 7 an Awards Ceremony will take place in Paris at the Gaumont Champs Elysées where all 75 films will be screened and prizes awarded. The following jury members will be in attendance:

 

·         Fernando Meirelles, Academy Award nominated director (CITY OF GOD)

 

·         Yacine Ait Kaci, Elyx creator and the first UN Digital Ambassador

 

·         HichamAyouch,Moroccan director,winner of the Golden Stallion of Yennenga at FESPACO 2015 (FEVER)

 

·         Jimmy Jean-Louis, actor and model best known for his role as “The Hatian” on the NBC television series Heroes

 

·         ZabouBreitman, French actress and César Award-winning director

 

BNP Paribas will award a grant of 30.000€to the Grand Prix for the production of a short film and 15.000€ to the Best French Film.

The jury will also award the prize for Best Screenplay, Best Actor and Best Actress and Place to B will present the Blogger Award.
