Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Drinking Water and Sanitation projects , 21/12/2015

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Drinking Water and Sanitation projects , 21/12/2015. Under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP), drinking water schemes / projects prepared by the States do not come to the Central Government for approval. States have State Level Scheme Sanctioning Committee (SLSSC) which approves the rural drinking water supply projects to be taken up in the State. However, some States including Madhya Pradesh had submitted various proposals for funding from external lending agencies for examination and recommendation to Ministry of Finance (MoF). The details of such proposals are at Annexure-I. Under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) {SBM(G)}, projects are sanctioned district-wise. Currently, 639 district sanitation projects, including 50 in Madhya Pradesh are sanctioned and are under implementation. During the years 2014-15 & 2015-16, 32 district projects have been received and sanctioned. The details of State/UT wise district projects sanctioned are at Annexure II. State/UT-wise Central share released under the SBM(G), during 2014-15 and 2015-16 is at Annexure-III.
