Question raised in Lok Sabha on Compensation for Crop Loss, 03/05/2016. National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS), Modified NAIS (MNAIS) and Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme were implemented during Rabi 2012-13 season through Agriculture Insurance Company of India (AIC) and 10 empanelled Private General Insurance Companies. Details of the business including claims reported under aforesaid Crop Insurance Schemes is at Annexure-I. United India Insurance Company Ltd. (UIIC) had not been empanelled to directly undertake Crop Insurance business. However, UIIC alongwith other Public Sector General Insurance Companies is the channel partner of AIC. The details of the pending claims of AIC for Rabi 2012-13 and reasons for their pendency are at Annexure-II.
