Order of the Delhi High Court regarding solid waste management in Delhi, 24/04/2018
Order of the Delhi High Court in the matter of Gauri Grover Vs Government of NCT of Delhi & Others dated 24/04/2018 regarding solid waste management in Delhi and public health issues associated with it.
A letter dated 20th April, 2018 has been received from Sunita Narain, Director General, Centre for Science and Environment seeking more time to place the report regarding E-waste management. Delhi High Court directs the report to be filed before the next date of hearing (22/05/2018). Ankit Gupta, Local Commissioner has handed over a CD containing a recording of the factual position on an inspection by him and other reporters of ABP News Network in different parts of Delhi with regard to the status and position of garbage collection and disposal. Municipal Commissioners of North Delhi, South Delhi and East Delhi Municipal Corporations have assured the Court that they shall address the situation on solid waste management on war footing and take every possible step to ensure that the problem is addressed. It is directed that stringent steps to enforce the penal provisions under the solid waste management shall be taken by the municipal corporations.
