Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of M. C. Mehta Vs Union of India & Others dated 24/05/2018 regarding amendments to the Master Plan for Delhi.

Apex Court observed that Delhi is being ravaged by unauthorised encroachments and illegal constructions with impunity and none of the civic authorities including the Delhi Development Authority was carrying out its statutory duties and that it is painful to issue directions to authorities to "carry out their mandatory functions in accordance with the law enacted by Parliament". Supreme Court also made it very clear that the people of Delhi has to be taken into confidence with regard to amendments to the Master Plan and rejects the request of the Attorney General to modify the Apex Court's Order Dated 15th May 2018. The Central Governnment has been directed to expeditiously implement the order dated 15th May, 2018 keeping the interest of the public of Delhi in mind.
