Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Ashis Thakur & Others Vs Union of India & Others dated 20/11/2018 regarding Steel Authority of India carrying on coal mining activities in Ramnagar Colliery and there have been earth cutting and and blasting of dynamites within hundred metres of residential areas. It is alleged that such activities have resulted in causing continuous vibration and noise pollution.

National Green Tribunal directs the Director General of Mines Safety, Eastern Zone, the District Magistrate, Paschim Bardhaman, the West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB) and the Central Pollution Control Board to form a joint team and to inspect the area in question within a period of two weeks.
