Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding destruction caused to East Kolkata Wetlands, West Bengal, 08/07/2019
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Subhas Datta Vs State of West Bengal & Other dated 08/07/2019 regarding destruction caused to East Kolkata Wetlands.
NGT in its Order of May 27, 2019 had directed for the constitution of a Committee to submit a report of the present situation prevailing in the wetland after physical inspection of the entire wetland area. The Committee was asked to submit its report within three months and as an interim order protective fencing was to be raised around the Mollar Bheri where the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation has been dumping solid waste. Eventhough the case was listed for consideration the report of compliance of the interim order has not been filed. The NGT directed that the compliance report should be submitted by August 27, 2019 when the case would be listed for consideration of the report of the Joint Committee.
