  • 25/06/2020

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Rashid Noor Khan Vs State of Madhya Pradesh dated 25/06/2020 regarding allegation of a mud car rally by a sports group called ‘Bhopal Rally Championship’ being organised illegally in the Bhoj wetland (Upper Lake) of Bhopal.

A report filed by the Madhya Pradesh State Wetland Authority (MPSWA), Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board (MPPCB) and the State Bio-diversity Board (SBB) said that no car rallies should be allowed in any of the wetlands of Bhopal. They could be organized in much of the undulating terrains away from wetlands of Bhopal.

Further, the rally organizer should obtain the necessary permission from the local administration for the entire car rally route well in advance and make adequate arrangements for collection as well as disposal of entire solid waste generated during the rally.

The NGT disposed of the application with the order that the recommendations be accepted and compliance ensured by the District Magistrate, Bhopal and MPPCB.
