Counter affidavit on behalf of Johnson & Johnson Private Limited in the matter of Purva Pravin Bora & Others Vs Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change & Others.

The matter related to disposal of sanitary napkins and diapers.

The report by Johnson & Johnson mentioned that not only has the company explored the possibility of using recyclable materials but has introduced recyclable material to the extent possible. Thus, up to 95% of the materials contained in its entire range of sanitary pads are currently recyclable. At present about 99% of the variants of sanitary napkins of the company have either a pouch or a wrapper for disposal of sanitary napkins. Thus, Johnson & Johnson Private Limited was compliant with the provisions of solid waste management (SWM) rules.

Further, the company in collaboration with UNICEF has initiated a drive on menstrual management with dignity.
