Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Som Distilleries Pvt Ltd. & Others Vs State of Madhya Pradesh & Others dated 11/01/2022.
The Supreme Court directed Som Distilleries to file an appeal under Section 28 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 against the MPPCB order, August 14, 2021. The appeal would be considered and decided on or before February 15, 2022.
The Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board has agreed that the industry would undertake cleaning of lagoons 1, 2, and 3 in the presence of officers of the state SPCB. The aforesaid exercise would be undertaken between January 17-21, 2022. The unit would be permitted to run/operate the unit for the limited purpose of cleaning, during the said period. The Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board would file its report regarding the cleaning of the lagoons and the compliance made by the petitioner before January 27, 2022.
