KUDOS TO AGARWAL
Anil Agarwal, noted environmentalist and director of the Centre for Science and Environment, New Delhi, has been conferred the Padma Bhushan, one of the nation's highest civilian awards, for his outstanding contribution to society. He is also the recipient of the Padma Shri. Besides these, in 1987, the United Nations Environment Programme elected him to its Global 500 Honour Roll for his work both in the national and international field of environment. Besides being a member of various committees Anil Agarwal has chaired the world's largest network of environmental NGOs based in Nairobi, the Environment Liaison Centre. He is the author of several books on the environment and is the editor of Down To Earth , India's only science and environment magazine.
