Objectives

The provision of Drinking Water Supply and extension of Sanitation facilities to the rural poor are the main components of the activities of the Department of Drinking Water Supply. The major programmes of the Drinking Water Supply Department are The Swajaldhara, the Accelerated Rural Water Supply Programme (ARWSP) and the Total Sanitation Programme (TSP). The department comes under the Ministry of Rural Development.

Chhattisgarh faces ire over NREGS in Naxal areas

Rs. 10,500 crore more allocated for NREGA

NEW DELHI: In view of the growing popularity of the employment scheme under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), the Centre has increased the allocation for the scheme by a whopping Rs. 10,500 crore for the current financial year.

Sikkim set to achieve 100 pc sanitation cover

The Union Rural Development Minister Dr Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, on Sunday, said that one of the main aims of the government would be to put North East on the fast track for achieving total sanitation. The Union Minister further divulged that Sikkim is likely to become the first State to receive the Nirmal Rajya Award for 100 per cent sanitation coverage.

Centre asks States to expedite schemes
