  • 19/08/2019

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Giriraj Parikrama Sanrakshan Sansthan & Others Vs Department of Environment & Forests & Others dated 19/08/2019 regarding cleaniness of Goverdhan Paravat and its Parikarma. The Court Commissioner, Anand V. Shukla visited the site on two festivals and reported that compliance of the order of the NGT was a total failure. Cleanliness of Parikarma Marg, Mansi Ganga, Daan Ghati and the temples at all these places was in dismal state as well as garbage cleaning and its removal from temples. There were unabated or uncontrolled sound systems which were going on whole night, without any check.

The District Magistrate, Mathura, Senior Superintendent of Police, SDM and other concerned officers have been directed by the NGT "to camp at Goverdhan for two days i.e. 20th and 21st August, 2019 and ensure that all garbage, and other issues pointed by the Commissioner in respect of cleanliness of Parikarama as well as the three temples be completed." The Tribunal expressed its displeasure at the absence of any officer on behalf of Rajasthan and the Court Commissioner in the report had mentioned that there was "non-compliance of the direction in the area of Parikrama Marg, Giriraj Parvat which lies within the territory of State of Rajasthan." In view of this, the Divisional Commissioner-Bharatpur, SP Bharatpur and SDO-Deeg have been directed to appear before the Tribunal, on the next date of hearing, August 28, 2019.
