The department of environment of West Bengal government has initiated steps to make green building norms mandatory in the state.
“We have already written to the state urban development and municipal affairs departments to amend rules and regulations,” state principal secretary to the department of environment Mr RPS Kahlon said here today.
He was speaking on the sidelines of CII-British High Commission organised discussion on climate-friendly industrial development.
Rainwater harvesting would be a major component in the green building norm, he said.
