“We have written to the urban development and municipal affairs departments to amend the rules so that there is a mandatory provision for green buildings,” said R.P.S. Kahlon, the principal secretary to the environment department. He was speaking on the sidelines of a discussion on climate friendly industrial development organised on Monday by the CII and British high commission.

Green buildings use solar energy, conserve water and process sewage and garbage efficiently. Such buildings significantly reduce energy wastage and water usage.
