K’taka bans export and transport of iron ore

Bangalore: Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa moved against the state’s politically powerful mining lobby, including two senior BJP leaders, by banning iron ore exports from 10 ports in the state and the issuance of permits for its transportation. The ban on exports covered 10 ports under state jurisdiction but not the bigger one in Mangalore.
