M/s. Jayaswals Industries NECO Ltd. (JNIL) has been allotted sub block IV/4 of Gare Block in Mand Raigarh Coalfield, Dist. Raigarh Chhattisgarh for mining of coal for captive consumption in their Integrated Steel Plant at Raipur. In order to meet the demand of the coal in quantity and quality Integrated Steel Plant of JNIL at Raipur, it is proposed to increase the production of coal from Gare Palma-IV/4 Coal Block.

Urban regeneration policy and practices can be an opportunity to take actions to make cities more climate-friendly and less vulnerable. However, the potential role of urban regeneration is not sufficiently evaluated and understood. Considering this assumption, this research aims to evaluate the role of urban regeneration in developing climate resilient and low-carbon urban environments. To this end, an indicator framework has been developed and applied to two specific case study areas in Japan, namely Yokohama Minato Mirai 21 and Kanazawa City.

FAO, in collaboration with forest management, climate change experts and relevant stakeholders, is developing guidelines to assist forest managers to effectively respond to climate change challenges and opportunities. These guidelines will include actions related to both climate change adaptation and mitigation and will be relevant to all types of forests, all management objectives and all types of managers.

This Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG) relates to matters arising from performance audit of selected programmes and activities and compliance audit of Government departments and autonomous bodies. Compliance audit refers to examination of the transactions relating to expenditure of the audited entities to ascertain whether the provisions of the Constitution of India, applicable laws, rules, regulations and various orders and instructions issued by the competent authorities are being complied with.

The Department of Rural Development & Panchayats, Government of Punjab has recently implemented waste water treatment systems, applying Waste Stabilization Ponds (WSP) technology in some of the villages in the districts of Ludhiana and Muktasar, in order to rejuvenate/renovate existing unused ponds. The state government desired to have techno-economic evaluation of the two such waste stabilization ponds already operating in Ludhiana districts. A team of experts from this Ministry visited the sites and submitted this report.

Rainfed areas currently constitute 55 per cent of the net sown area of the country and are home to two-thirds of livestock and 40 per cent of human population. Even after realizing the full irrigation potential, about 50 per cent of the cultivated area will remain rainfed. The business as usual approach of taking major interventions uniformly across all the regions of the country has not paid much dividend.

The Andaman & Nicobar Islands have considerable potential for power generation through New & Renewable Source of Energy which is yet to be harnessed. The Central Government has formulated and declared the National Electricity Policy and Tariff Policy under the provisions at Clause 5.12, Sec 3 of the Electricity Act, 2003. Both the policies provide for measures to undertake the development of power projects through Renewable Energy Sources.

Nepal has abundant natural assets which underpin the economy and a very diverse ethnic and cultural heritage. These provide a strong platform for sustainable development. But the country suffers from the pervasive degradation of its environment and there is widespread poverty. As Nepal emerges from a period of conflict, the opportunity has emerged to safeguard and manage the environment wisely and build the future on a sustainable basis, and in this way secure a transition to a green economy.

A solar photovoltaic (SPV) lantern (Solar lantern) is a lighting system consisting of a lamp, battery and electronics, all placed in a suitable housing, made of metal or plastic or fiber glass, and a photovoltaic (PV) module. Electricity generated by PV module charges the battery. The lantern is a portable lighting device suitable for either indoor or outdoor lighting, covering a full range of 360 degrees. A lighting device which does not have omni-directional lighting will not be classified as a solar lantern in the present context.
