Financing local adaptation: ensuring access for the climate vulnerable in Bangladesh

This report explores the crucial question of how to bridge the divide between increasing sources of adaptation finance, most of which currently exist at international or national levels, and local communities at the grassroots level that are facing the impacts of climate change. It explores to what extent local government institutions could provide a gateway for vulnerable communities to gain increased access to climate adaptation finance. This report examines a number of initiatives, projects, and systems in Bangladesh that potentially have relevance to the design of an adaptation finance mechanism for the local level.
