Odisha state urban water supply policy 2013

The National Water Policy 2002 as well as the Odisha State Water Policy 2007 defines water as a prime natural resource, a basic human need and a previous national asset. Accordingly, both the National Water Policy and the Odisha State water policy accord highest priority to water supply for human and livestock consumption for drinking and domestic use. The policy document aims at providing a framework for meeting national service level benchmarks, achieving consumer orientation and addressing issues and challenges of the sector. The policy envisions at providing universal access to potable piped water supply on 24/7 basis at an affordable price and in an equitable, sustainable and eco-friendly manner with verifiable service level bench mark for citizens in urban areas of the state.
