Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today presented a surplus Budget of Rs 48 crore, focusing on poor, farmers, potable water, power and health sectors. However, he has given a jolt to urban population by increasing power tariff and tax on four-wheelers.
15,000 premature deaths a year: Dhaka’s air pollution level highest in the world
Air pollution in capital city Dhaka raised higher than Mexico and Mumbai killing thousands of people prematurely each year, health experts say.
According to the Department of Environment (DoE) the density of airborne particulate matter (PM) reaches 463 micrograms per cubic metre (mcm) in the city during December-March period - the highest level in the world.
Auto owners stump Subhas
KOLKATA, March 23: The state transport minister, Mr Subhas Chakraborty, admitted today that the state government have delayed a crackdown on the huge number of unregistered auto-rickshaws plying in the city and its outskirts due to anticipated stiff resistance from their operators.
Auto: Extended deadline not enough
KOLKATA, March. 19: Calcutta High Court's extension of deadline for phasing out petrol and diesel run auto rickshaws into LPG fuelled four stroke ones by a few months, does not seem to have pleased the auto-rickshaw operators.
HC extends vehicle deadline to 31 July
KOLKATA, March 17: The last date for phasing out two-stroke auto rickshaws from the city and acquiring four-stroke ones was extended from 1 January to 31 July by the Division Bench of Mr SS Nijjar, Chief Justice and Mr Justice Pinaki Ghosh of Calcutta High Court today.
