State may fail to fulfil UN goals
Ranchi, March 9: United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are still a distant dream in Jharkhand.
According to members of Wada Na Todo Abhiyan (WNTA) — a forum of NGOs and social activists, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh lagged behind other states in achieving the MDGs.

Greens want sparrow chirp back in Mumbai

Ban buffalo slaughter too, says Maneka
Welcoming the proposed ban on cow slaughter, animals activist and MP Maneka Gandhi said stringent laws were needed to avoid animal sacrifice in the name of religion.
Activists should strengthen their fight for better treatment of animals. “I would suggest that this proposed bill include the buffaloes too,” she said.
