High Court contradicts Government stand on erosion

DIBRUGARH, Aug 20: The State government’s claim of non-availability of funds for anti-erosion work stands contradicted at the Gauhati High Court. Mass rally over erosion in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, Aug 5 – The city witnessed a massive protest today where hundreds of demonstrators from different parts of the district marched towards the office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) to register their protest against government’s failure to solve the flood and erosion problem in Rohomoria and its adjoining areas.

Demand for rehabilitation of erosion-hit families

Dibrugarh erosion: HC notice to govt on PIL

GUWAHATI, July 2 – The Gauhati High Court, in response to a PIL (No 63/2010) filed by a few citizens of Dibrugarh, served notices to the respondents of the case which include Ministry of Water Resources, the Central Water Commission, the Planning Commission and the Government of Assam, besides a host of other Government departments on June 30.

Stir threat over Dibrugarh erosion

Governor for permanent flood solution

GUWAHATI, June 24 – Assam Governor JB Patnaik is planning to form a commission to suggest measures to ensure proper decentralization of powers to the grass root level to ensure development of the underdeveloped rural areas of the State. He is also of the view that permanent measures should be taken to deal with the problems of floods and erosion.
