State infant mortality rate now below national average
In what can be considered good news in the field of child care in Assam, the State Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) has come down to 48 per thousand from the 65 per thousand in the year 2005.

Training prog on village health and sanitation committee

Plea to check bird mortality
DIBRUGARH, Jan 13: The district administration, Forest Department and other organizations in the district are in a deep slumber despite the death of more than two hundred avian species in last two days at Moran area in Dibrugarh district. It is also learnt that the carcass of endangered species like hornbills are also found in the area.

Over 100 birds die in tea estate
Dibrugarh, Jan. 10: Over a hundred birds died of suspected pesticide poisoning in a tea estate at Moran in Dibrugarh today.
Forest officials said samples of the dead birds would be sent to the forensic laboratory for tests to ascertain the cause.

Assam farmers to be exposed to northern agricultural technology
At least 12 farmers from Dibrugarh and Sivasagar districts along with three agricultural officers including the SDO (Agricultural) of Charaideo sub-division have been selected for a farmer educational tour to Solan Agricultural University in Himachal Pradesh to learn about the new agricultural technology being used in northern states.
