Dhaka, Delhi conclude water talks

DHAKA: Bangladesh and India have agreed to resolve outstanding issues relating to water sharing and decided that they will jointly start work for the protection of banks of the common rivers.
The consensus came at the end of the two-day crucial water talks at the Secretary level here on Tuesday.

India, B'desh open river waters talks
India and Bangladesh today launched their crucial two-day talks to hammer out a deal on sharing of waters of Teesta river, with Dhaka favouring an "interim agreement" on the issue if it is not possible to reach a long-term pact.
The Secretary-level talks opened at the state guest house of Meghna this morning, a Water Resource Ministry spokesman told PTI.

Centre seeks data on 6 Sikkim hydel projects

States to get 'green' bonus for forest cover

Army rushed in for river rescue - Flood hits 3500 families
Aug. 20: The army has been called in Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar to evacuate over 1,500 marooned families.
More than 3,500 families in three north Bengal districts have been affected after the water level of the rivers passing through them rose.

Report on treatment of land slide and erosion control project under TDET - South Sikkim
Sikkim is facing great challenge to protect the natural resource from land degradation and erosion. The whole state of Sikkim is hilly and cris-crossed by number of streams. Soil erosion is one of the major problems. The hills of Sikkim mainly consist of gneissose and half-schistose rocks, making their soil brown clay, and generally poor and shallow.
