The thousands of tourists who will throng Goa's beaches in the forthcoming summer months will be at the risk of catching malaria, as the infection attains near-epidemic proportions.According to statistics released by the State Government's department of health, 21,000 cases of malaria were detected in 1997, a near 100 per cent increase over the previous year when 11,000 cases were detected.
