Aizawl: Veterinary officials have identified the disease that killed about 100 pigs in Kolasib district of Mizoram over the last few days as 'Swine Fever', and not the dreaded Swine Flu of the H1N1 virus. ''Swine fever was first detected in Mizoram in 1980. A number of pigs have fallen prey to this disease. It should not be mistaken with the dreaded H1N1 virus. It cannot not spread to human beings,'' Dr Saingura Sailo, Joint Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary said on Friday. About 100 pigs in Kolasib district bordering Assam had died of what district veterinary officials have claimed to be 'Swine Fever'. (UNI)
