Despite rains in many parts of the State, at least 127 taluks are going through severe drinking water shortage. Water is being supplied through tankers in these areas. Minister of State for Rural Water Supply K B Koliwad told reporters that though many parts of the State received rains, the ground water table continued to be "weak." "Now water is being supplied to 359 villages through tankers," he said. The worst-hit districts include Belgaum, Gadag, Haveri, Chikmagalur and Chitradurga. "There is no hope for improvement in these districts," Koliwad said.
