KARIMNAGAR: In a bizarre incident, hunters killed 19 peacocks by sprinkling poison-laced seed at a water point on the outskirts of Kalwakota village of Medipalli mandal of Karimnagar district on Sunday. According to reports reaching here, every day 40 to 50 peacocks visit the water point to quench their thirst in the early hours, from the nearby hillocks. The hunters noticed this and sprinkled pesticide-laced seed near the water point. The peacocks collapsed soon after consuming them. Surprisingly, only peahens were found dead near the water point. Officials conducted a post-mortem and registered a case under Section 9 of the Wildlife Act.
