1st UK offshore wind power plant opens in North Sea

Britain's first offshore wind turbines officially opened on Thursday off the coast of Blyth in Northumberland, northeast England, the UK's Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said in a press release."Rapid development of offshore windfarms over the years immediately ahead is a key element in the Government's strategy for renewable energy," said Energy Minister Helen Liddell, speaking at the opening.
