In the nation's worst nuclear accident, which occurred in Tokaimura, Ibaraki Prefecture, on Sept. 30, 20 more people than initially announced had been exposed to radiation, the Science and Technology Agency on Friday reported at a panel meeting of the Nuclear Safety Commission. According to the report disclosed at a meeting of the panel investigating the nuclear fission accident at the uranium processing-facility, a total of 69 people were exposed to radiation at the time of accident, instead of the previously announced 49. The 20 people who were later found out to have been exposed to radiation were at the facility operated by JCO, a nuclear fuel-processing firm.
